On 4th June 2015 ten of our number with our better halves, will make the journey north to visit the National Arboretum. The plan is make this a two day event, with an overnight stay in the local Premier Inn.
We will travel up on the Thursday and meet up in the evening at a resturant adjacent to the hotel for dinner and a few drinks, where we can chew the fat over what ever subject takes our fancy. After breakfast the following morning, we will check out of the hotel and make our way to the Arboretum which is a few short miles down the road.
It is planned that we form up by our dedicated tree & plaque on the Mall leading to the Guards memorial wall. We will then say a few words in remembrance of all those guardsman from all the seven regiments that have sacrificed so much in Peace, War or times of trouble. We are also hoping to get permission from the Legionto lay a Poppy Wreath at the wall.
We will then fall out and spend some time looking around the complex, as we all have different parts we would like to see. We will then return to the Visitor Centre for Tea and Cake before we are dismissed and make our own way home.
